Sigree, The Global Grill @ Malad West

Firstly, we all of you readers, a very Happy Republic Day...
Fortunately, it is the same day when I celebrate my Anniversary and today, it was my 3rd Anniversary...
Unlike previous years, we had our entire family together and that is why we decided to dine out at a place, where we would get a lovely buffet spread. After some research we zeroed in on Sigree... more because its sister concerns, Oh! Kolkata and Mainland China are our favourite joints...
So finally we were at our Destination, Sigree, The Global Grill...

To start with, we found it weird that they do take reservations beyond 1 pm and when we reached there, it was pretty crowded... may be because it was a national holiday... After waiting for 30 minutes, we finally secured a seat and then started our gastronomic journey...
STARTERS need a special mention... They started off with Ceasor Salad which was very crunchy... and then it started... one after the other... Murg Malai tikka, hariyali paneer tikka, tandoori aloo, grilled mushrooms, ajwain fish, murg peshawari and then smoked pineapples which was the show stopper...
While we were stuffing ourselves with these delicious little things, the music set the mood perfectly.

The main course was equally tempting... The salad options were not innovative...
Main course options were Methi Dum rice, Paneer zaffrani, Vegetables in Thai Red curry, Dal makhani, Herb and buttered rice, Murg Kasha, Herbed and Roasted Chicken and finally Chicken Dum Biriyani...
However, it was the herb and buttered rice, roasted chicken, chicken kasha and the pasta salad that made their way into my plate... and they tasted yum!
The dessert section was not at all unique, however, the malpua and rabri need a special mention...

The staff was helpful and polite, ambience average... Overall a complete paisa wasool experience...

If its Chinese, Its Mainland China...

Very true to its tagline, the best Chinese food is served here. Its been one of my fav. eateries since I was in College. Being a regular customer at both Kolkata and Bangalore, thought of trying the one in Mumbai and it was just awesome. I had been there with my husband to celebrate my new job and the experience was wonderful. The service is great as usual and the ambiance is also the same as it is in other cities. I loved the "Eight Treasure Veg soup" while my husband gorged on the "Crab meat soup". The menu is exhaustive and one can get a wide variety of items to choose from. We ordered Ginger Capsicum Fried rice along with General Tao's Chicken and Lemon Chicken. All the dishes were excellent. The price is slightly on the higher side however, the quality of food is worth the money that you spend. An average meal for two can cost 2000 INR approximately however, it may still vary.
I am simply amazed to see the way these guys have maintained the quality of their food, ambiance and service since all these years...

Khyber @ Mumbai Fort, Kala Ghoda

I was searching for a good restaurant for authentic North Indian flavours in Mumbai. After a lot of research discovered Khyber at Mumbai Fort. In the beginning I was a bit apprehensive about going all the way to Mumbai Fort just to have Lunch. But somehow my husband convinced me for the same and thus we had our lunch at KHYBER this weekend.
To start with, the ambience was awesome. I loved the way this place is decorated with traditional Afghani sensibilities. The staff was polite and ready to serve their customers. The menu consists of the same old North Indian dishes that you can find in any other eatery that serve cuisines from Northern part of the country.
In the beginning we ordered Paya Shorbas followed by Chicken Kalmi Kebab. The kebabs were succulent and the flavours were simply awesome. As a part of main course, we ordered a portion of Peas Pulao and Mutton Rara. The food was very good but I didn't find it exceptional the way various websites had quoted it to be. For desserts, we ordered for Firni that was equally nice. An average meal for two would cost you somewhere around Rs 2000 or more. I found the place a bit overpriced as the Menu doesn't have much variety. However, if you are somewhere near Fort/Colaba and want to taste some good North Indian food, KHYBER is the place to be...
If you have already visited this place or are planning to visit, let me know about your views as well. I would be waiting for your comments...

MasterChef @ Dahisar West

I love experimenting with food. Every weekend I have made it a ritual to try out a new eatery and let all my friends know about it.
So... I started off with this recently opened Food joint "MasterChef" at Dahisar West (Besides Mc Donalds).

If you are planning to go there on a weekend, start early as it gets pretty crowded by 9 pm.
The service was good and the staff was polite.
Coming to the Menu... It wasn't quite impressive as it seemed to be a mix of several cuisines and you may get confused while deciding upon what to eat.
We ordered for a broccoli and corn soup which was amazing. In the main course, we thought of trying something in Thai and so ordered Kaproi Chicken which was nothing but minced chicken steamed in some thai sauces. This was followed by Burnt Ginger Garlic fried rice and Shredded Chicken in lemon sauce. All of them tasted good but the Chef could have definitely done better. The restaurant is not much expensive and a proper meal would cost approximately Rs 1000.
I would give this place 3 out of 5.
Try it and let me know about your views as well.
